The most important material found only in Matthew’s Gospel is in its nativity account for Jesus, which is different from and largely irreconcilable with Luke’s nativity account. It includes the visit of the magi, Herod’s ‘Slaughter of the Innocents’, the flight to Egypt and the decision by Joseph to move their home to Nazareth in order to avoid Archelaus (Matthew 2:23).
